What happens during treatment?

First we look at your medical history and the reason you are coming to see me today. I then make a diagnosis that looks at the connection between your symptoms, many of which may seem unrelated from a western medical perspective. My knowledge and understanding provide the basis for your treatment and the choice of acupuncture points.

The needles I use are specifically acupuncture needles. They are as fine as a shaft of hair. They are not like the needles used for injections or blood tests as they do not conduct fluid in or out of the body and therefor feel nothing like these procedures. Most patients feel little or no sensation when I insert the needles. The needles are sterile, disposable steel needles. After the needles are inserted I check that you are comfortable and let you relax with the needles in place. You can listen to music or just have quiet.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed depends on the condition and response of the client. Treatment needs to be frequent and long enough for the Acupuncture to give you the healing you seek. It so often depends on the length of time you have had the problem. Treatment is most effective when initial appointments are scheduled close together and taper off as you feel the accumulative results.
